Club re-opening information
It is pleasing that Titwood is set to re-open but it is important to note that the First Minister still has to confirm on Thursday 28 May that outdoor tennis courts can do so.
With that in mind and in principle, Titwood will re-open from Friday (May 29) with restrictions based on LTA/Tennis Scotland guidelines.
The Club’s opening hours are from 8 am to 9 pm on all five, all-weather courts. With the clubhouse and toilets staying closed there will be no access to use floodlights.
As we resume on-court action, we would ask all members for their co-operation and common sense as we ease back into the swing of things.
Your patience and understanding has been much appreciated in recent weeks and we hope this will continue.
Online booking for each all-weather court will be available via ClubSpark – and this will come into effect on Friday.
Each booking will be for 50 minutes to allow a 10-minute gap for players to arrive and leave. This is a sensible precaution we urge everyone to take.
At the moment, bookings are limited to:
– Max seven days in advance
– Two bookings per 7 days
– One hour booking at a time (curtailed to 50 minutes actual on-court time).
We would strongly discourage members who book from getting their ‘opponent’ to book a second, consecutive slot, in fairness to fellow members seeking to play. One booking must be honoured before another can be made.
This is a system that may have teething problems but we are sure we can sort them out, when required. Again your co-operation will be vital.
It should be remembered that players cannot turn up to book a court or take an empty court under the official guidelines, to which we are adhering.
If members don’t have a playing partner they should contact club coach, Stuart Clark who will match up players, accordingly.
Only Singles can be played – although doubles are allowed if players on the same side are from the same household.
A hand sanitiser is available just as you enter the grounds at the clubhouse – please use before and after your game.
Net winders will be removed and nets set at uniform height while benches have been taped off.
Only fully paid up members, or those whose payment by instalments have been agreed by the membership secretary, can book a court.
Those who have renewed their membership should wear the new shoe tags.
Players must use their own marked tennis balls. Balls should not be touched other than serving (with your own balls). Please do not handle tennis balls from other courts.
Stuart Clark (07939 311170) will have new balls and equipment for sale.
We have tried to plan ahead as much as possible to ensure a safe return for all to Titwood – and we can’t repeat often enough that your co-operation is needed and will be most welcome.
Following the First Minister’s statement on Thursday, we plan to issue an updated message for you.
Thank you, take care
