Club serves an ace in attracting people with disabilities

Titwood hosted a groundbreaking event to encourage people with disabilities to become more involved with sport, especially tennis.

More than a score of children and adults with a variety of disabilities attended the two hour session on 23 April organised in conjunction with Promoting Inclusion Through Sport and The Advisory Group (TAG). They included those with learning difficulties and autism, and deaf people.

Coach Stuart Clark and Club volunteers helped them enjoy mini ball games, balance and co-ordination exercises, and racket skills.

The Club won high praise from co-organisers and parents.“The Committee made everyone feel so welcome and nothing was too much bother, “ said Allwyn Crawford, Additional Support Needs Consultant Co-ordinator at Promoting Inclusion Through Sport. “Feedback from  participants showed it made a major contribution to a resounding success.”

Parents and supporters were treated to coffee, tea and biscuits, and the Committee is grateful to Morrisons for its kind donation of water and fruit.
